Share investors' capital increased by Rs 1 trillion

The capitalization of capital market investors has increased by Rs 800 billion in the last five months. The market capitalization of the companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange was Rs. 1,792.76 billion in mid-July last year.

The capitalization has increased by Rs 994.31 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year and reached Rs 2787.07 billion by mid-November. The stock market capitalization stood at Rs. 232.76 billion in mid-November last year.

Not only the capitalization but the Nepse index has also increased by an average of 700 points since last July. The Nepse index, which measures such share turnover, was 1,362.4 in mid-July last year. By mid-November, it had reached 1,718.5 points. By mid-November, the Nepse index had risen to more than 2,000 points.

The number of companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited in mid-November is 212. Of the listed companies, 144 are banks and financial institutions and insurance companies, while 35 are hydropower companies, 19 are manufacturing and processing industries, 4/4 are hotels and businesses and 6 are other groups. The number of listed companies was 212 in July 2012.

Similarly, the share of hydropower companies is 6.6 percent, manufacturing and processing industry is 3.6 percent, hotel is 1.1 percent, business is 0.5 percent and other group companies have 15.0 percent.

In the four months of the current Fiscal Year 2077/78, development bonds worth Rs. 100 billion, ordinary shares worth Rs. 9.45 billion, bonus shares worth Rs. 5.53 billion, debentures worth Rs. 4 billion, rights shares worth Rs. A total of 121.65 billion additional securities have been listed through the fund, according to Rastriya Bank.

During the review period, the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal (SEB) has allowed the issuance of debentures worth Rs 3.44 billion, ordinary shares worth Rs 938.6 million, rights shares worth Rs 533.7 million and mutual funds worth Rs 500 million.
