Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that contradictions in the name of ethnicity and culture created on the basis of fleeting political interests in development work will hurt the development and unity of country.
This was stated by Prime Minister Oli while presiding over a meeting of Ministry of Defense's Progress Review and Ministerial Development Problem Solving Committee held at Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Friday.
Prime Minister Oli directed National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Ministry of Defense and Nepal Army to take coordinated initiatives to resolve Khokana land dispute.
Prime Minister Oli also said that government should be reminded of its vested interests in portraying culture and caste in the land dispute of Khokana in Lalitpur, the entry point of Kathmandu-Terai / Madhes Expressway of national pride.
Prime Minister Oli, who is also Minister of Defense, stressed on the need to uplift all castes by resolving such issues as national unity would be destroyed if ethnic wars were created.
Presenting progress review of ministry at meeting, Secretary Reshmiraj Pandey informed that 34.57 percent progress has been made till last October. Pandey said that green signal has been received in 16 out of 21 milestones in the current fiscal year at ministry level.
Pandey also informed that action plan of National Security Policy has been approved and is being implemented and National Defense Policy has been approved by National Security Council and is being submitted to Council of Ministers.
Similarly, Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa had requested Army to provide adequate budget for programs and projects.
