Majority members of Secretariat of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) are going to request Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli for a secretariat meeting.
An informal meeting of the majority secretariat members held at CPN (Maoist) headquarters in Dhumbarahi on Friday decided to meet Prime Minister on Saturday and request for a meeting, said spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
During meeting, Prachanda briefed leaders of his party about his meeting with another Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Spokesperson Shrestha informed that Oli had called a meeting without his consent and warned that it would be a point of split in party.
Shrestha said that Prachanda convened informal meeting of secretariat with the agreement of Oli to preserve party unity even though executive chairman has right to convene meeting.
Shrestha said that their conclusion was that there was a problem in party due to non-implementation of decision of standing committee meeting.
Shrestha said that meeting should be convened on the basis of consensus despite any problems and stalemate in party in current situation.
Most of participants in meeting had suggested Prachanda to meet Oli and hold a meeting saying that there was a problem in not implementing decision of standing committee meeting.
Out of nine-member secretariat, five members participated in Friday's meeting. Meeting was not attended by Prime Minister KP Oli, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Bishnu Poudel.
Executive Chairman Prachanda, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam and spokesperson Shrestha were present.
