The cabinet meeting held on Monday has decided to test and treat the coronavirus free of cost. A source in the Ministry of Health said that the Ministry of Health and Population has been instructed to make necessary preparations along with the decision to test and treat Corona patients free of cost in government hospitals.
The decision was taken after the Supreme Court twice directed the government, which has been interfering in the natural rights of the common people, to provide free health care services as mentioned in the constitution of 2072 BS.
The Supreme Court had twice instructed the government to provide free treatment for patients during the pandemic.
The Ministry of Health and Population has taken the proposal of free treatment to the Council of Ministers after a contempt case was filed against Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal for disobeying the court.
In addition to all-round criticism, the government has been compelled to follow the decision of the apex court and has been forced to correct the decision to charge first.
The government has decided to deposit 50 percent of the salaries of all cabinet members in the Corona Fund after some leaders and ministers, including the state government, announced that they would not take tithe allowance and would help the country and the people in times of crisis.
It is understood that the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Monday has decided to deposit half of the salaries of all the ministers in the Corona Fund from Mangsir.
With the decision to provide free corona treatment, the government has also decided to purchase the vaccine against the coronavirus.
The government has formed a three-member committee at the secretary level of the Ministry of Finance, Health and Population and Foreign Affairs to bring the vaccine. The World Health Organization says the vaccine will take some time to come into use.
