Bihar Elections: While Modi’s BJP performs well, Incumbent Nitish Kumar’s NDA alliance secures majority

The NDA alliance led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has won a majority in the Legislative Assembly elections in Bihar.

The ruling NDA coalition won 125 seats, according to the final results on Tuesday night. Only 122 seats are needed to form a government. In Bihar, elections were held in 243 assembly seats.

In the election, the grand alliance led by Opposition Leader Tejasbi Yadav was limited to 110 seats.

Although Yadav's party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), became the first party with 75 seats, it failed to get a majority to form a government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become the second party with 74 seats. The BJP, which won only 53 seats in the 2015 election, has shone this time.

NDA leader Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU) is limited to 43 seats. The JDU had won 71 seats in the 2015 elections. The Indian Congress has won 19 seats in the election.

Even the Communist Parties have done well in the Bihar elections. The Communist Party of India (CPI) has won 2 seats, the CPI (Marxist) 2 seats and the CPI (Marxist Leninist) 12 seats. In the 2015 elections, only the CPI (Marxist-Leninist) won only three seats.

According to Indian media, Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister for the seventh time as he has been promoted as the Chief Minister by the NDA alliance. Nitish has been in power in Bihar for a long time.
