Three persons arrested who escaped after looting

Police have arrested three persons who escaped after loot under the pretext of buying land in Bhaktapur.

Metropolitan Crime Branch arrested Kami Lama, 37, Sherpa, 23, Ramesh Tamang, 23, and Prem Tamang, 27, of Sindhupalchowk at a press conference on Tuesday. They had beaten Chandra Kumar Yonjan, 61, of Sundal in Changunarayan Municipality-8 to death on Wednesday.

After beating, they looted a gold bracelet and a mobile phone and fled, according to the department. Yonjan, who was critically injured in beating, died at Green City Hospital in Kathmandu on Thursday morning, said Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa.

As Yonjan was reluctant to give the money, Sherpa had beaten Chandra Bahadur Yonjan and tried to collect the money. According to the police, Sherpa took the help of Ramesh Tamang for that.

They had identified Yonjan's house on September 3 and returned to beat him. After identifying the house, they planned to beat him, said Thapa. Metropolitan Crime Branch informed that three persons have been arrested from the investigation conducted through Operation Rocks.

According to the plan, Ramesh and Prem had gone to Sudal in Bhaktapur on a motorcycle (Ba 96 Pa 7114) last Wednesday. They met Kami Sherpa at 4.30 pm and went to the deceased's shop to have a drink.

They later said that his relatives needed land and that he would share the profits from the sale with the deceased Yonjan. Under the pretext of looking at the land, they took Yonjan to Vidolphant and beat him in the face, chest and abdomen.

According to the investigation, Sherpa and his friends fled after looting two tolas of gold and a mobile phone. Police have arrested them and are conducting further investigations.
