Temples to be opened from 17 October

Temples of all gods, which are closed due to the risk of covid infection, will be reopened from October 17.

Temples including Guheshwari, Bhadrakali, Dakshinkali, Shobhabhagwati, Bangalamukhi, Mait Devi and Bhatbhateni Akashedevi in Kathmandu Valley will be open from October 17. Temple managers say that there is an obligation to open temple as special worship is held during Dashain.

Secretary of Mait Devi Temple Area Management Committee Rajaram Kapali said that temple had to be reopened as special worship would be held on the tenth day. Kapali said that there should be special worship of various guthiyars and there should be a procession.

However, Secretary of Mait Devi Temple Area Management Committee Kapali said that no decision has been taken by the government so far.

However, at the request of local devotees, Kapali said that it would be opened for the devotees without much crowd from October 17. Kapali said that an agreement has been reached with guthiyars not to start the pilgrimage but to perform special worship.

At the same time, all activities except regular worship have been stopped even in the main temples of Kathmandu Valley.

Government has not yet decided to open the temple as other areas will be opened but the temple will be crowded. However, most of the temples are preparing to open, albeit in a limited way, from October 1.
