Public service exam postponed

Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to implement the criteria related to the conduct and management of examinations in special cases recently issued by Public Service Commission.

Following the court order, Public Service Commission has postponed the examination program for the post of first class information technology expert published on October 26. The commission had fixed the date for conducting the examination on October 15 and 16.

Supreme Court has issued an interim order in a writ filed by Human Rights Defenders Network (HRDN) alleging that the criteria issued by commission in the Supreme Court are discriminatory and disrespectful to Corona infected.

Along with the interim order, implementation of the criteria issued by the commission has been stopped so as not to include corona infected in the examination.

Court has also ordered in the name of the commission to make arrangements for the examination while maintaining the privacy of the infected by fulfilling health criteria.

A single bench of Justice Sapna Pradhan Malla has stated in order that the criteria of the commission are contrary to the right to employment, right to equality, right against discrimination on the basis of health and right against untouchability and discrimination.

Court order said, "Until the final decision of the submitted advertisement, the work of the post of Nepal Miscellaneous Service, Gazetted First Class Information Technology Expert published in Public Service Commission on 2077/6/9 should be kept as it is."

The commission has asked the writ petitioner to take into consideration the condition of Corona who is undergoing treatment for the infection. As per the Supreme Court's order, the commission has postponed the examination on October 14.
