Parliamentary committee has directed government not to give any excuse to the people involved in the rape and to bring the police officers who do not investigate and take action under the law.
A meeting of State Management Committee under the House of Representatives held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday directed to take legal action against the officer who did not conduct a serious investigation into the recent incidents.
Meeting has directed individuals and bodies to mediate in the incident of rape to take action as a rapist and to make legal arrangements for such action.
Stating that incidents will not be reduced if the rapists are not punished mercilessly, the committee chairperson Shashi Shrestha said that the committee has been instructed to implement the existing laws without any pressure, excuse or arbitrariness. Committee chairperson Shrestha said that government has been instructed to review the laws as per the need.
The committee has directed the government to take immediate action against the perpetrators and provide education and healthcare to the victims including justice and compensation to the victims, informed Shrestha
During the meeting, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal said that the government was making maximum efforts to stop the incidents of rape. But in recent times, an average of 6-7 people have been raped every day, said Home minister Thapa.
Thapa said that the state has made laws and regulations to reduce the incidence of rape and murder but it has not been effective. Stating that legal action should be taken against those who seek reconciliation in such cases, Home Minister Thapa clarified that action would be taken against them as well.
Similarly, Inspector General of Police Shailendra Thapa admitted that the incidents of sexual abuse against girls have increased recently.
Inspector General Thapa informed parliamentary committee that Rajendra Bohora, accused of rape and murder of Samjhana, had confessed to the crime.
Inspector General Thapa said that it was difficult to stop the rape as most of the people involved were involved in the incident. Inspector General Thapa said that the investigation into the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant of Kanchanpur was in full swing.
During the meeting, lawmakers alleged that the perpetrators of the violence could not be arrested even though they were walking openly. Lawmakers said that the police organization should be seriously involved in the investigation into the incidents of rape and murder of women.
