It has been found that food items without clear leveling are being sold and distributed in the concessional price shops run by Food Management and Trading Company owned by Government of Nepal.
The monitoring team of Consumer Protection Committee of Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Sunday found that the production date and leveling of most of the food items were not found.
Consumer Rights Activist Madhav Timilsina, a member of the monitoring team, said that Consumer Protection Act 2075 should keep the date of production and MRP of each item clearly.
During the monitoring, it was found that Japanese rice made in 2018 with a grant from Japanese government was still being sold and distributed, said Consumer Rights Activist Timilsina.
Similarly, there was no leveling in the items including pulses, said Timilsina. He said the company would be recommended for necessary action.
The monitoring team also found that there was a shortage of sugar in the discount stores and consumers had to return.
