Kyrgyzstan to hold parliamentary elections in December

Kyrgyzstan officials have set a new date for parliamentary elections in December.

In October 4 parliamentary elections, pro-presidential parties won unilaterally. But people protested against the president, saying the election was rigged. President Suronbai Jinbekov has resigned as protests escalate.

Central Election Commission (CEC) on Wednesday scheduled next parliamentary elections for December 20. Presidential election will be held in January.

Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian nation bordering China, has seen three uprisings in the past 15 years. There have been previous uprisings in 2005 and 2010.
