Food prices rise under control even amid Corona epidemic: Lekhraj Bhatt

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has claimed that the rise in food prices is under control even amid Corona epidemic.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday on the occasion of Chamber Day 2077 BS and the 70th anniversary of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Minister Bhatta claimed that food items other than food items were not expensive in Nepal despite Corona epidemic.

Minister Bhatta noted that current focus is on reducing Nepal's trade deficit, increasing exports and attracting investment. Minister Bhatta said that cooperation of the policy sector was necessary for the progress of economic sector and moving country towards industrialization.

Minister Bhatta also claimed that tax sector has improved a lot since he took charge of Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. Minister Bhatta said that government has been gradually reducing the tax rate on raw materials to boost domestic production.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, chairman of the chamber, said that government should reduce the tariff rate and increase the transaction price to increase the revenue.

Chairman of the chamber, Shrestha said that the import rate has been reduced even in the neighboring country India but in Nepal traders have been affected due to the increase in tax rate. Minister Bhatta hoisted the flag of the chamber at the program.
