Regular international flights resumed

Regular international flights have resumed five months after a nationwide embargo was imposed to control the Covid-19 infection, which has spread as a global pandemic.

The government had decided to operate regular international flights with certain conditions from September 1, five months after the lockdown.

The cabinet meeting held on August 19 has decided to conduct regular conditional flights from countries where PCR testing is easy for safe flight to survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

International flights were banned in Nepal from March 26 when the lockdown began. Domestic flights were also postponed. In the meantime, there were no commercial flights.

There were chartered flights to bring stranded Nepalese abroad and for the movement of citizens to and from Nepal and abroad. Similarly, cargo flights were also operated from different countries to bring essential health items.

Up to 18 chartered flights were operated daily during the lockdown.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has made schedule public of both regular and chartered flights for the month of September.

According to the decision of the Government of Nepal, only Nepali nationals and diplomats, staffs and UN staff from foreign missions in Nepal are allowed to come to Nepal from Malaysia, UAE, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, USA, Canada and European countries. There will be regular flights.

Countries that are not comfortable with PCR are not allowed to bring passengers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on regular flights.
