Recommendation of Bamdev Gautam in the National Assembly

The ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has decided to recommend Vice President Bamdev Gautam as a vacant nominee in the National Assembly.

At a meeting of the CPN (Maoist) Secretariat held at the PM's residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli informed that government was preparing to recommend Gautam to the National Assembly, said CPN (Maoist) spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

With the decision to take Gautam to the National Assembly, Yuvaraj Khatiwada's term as Finance Minister will end on Saturday.

Although Khatiwada is not a member of the federal parliament, he was re-appointed as the finance minister on March 6 as per the constitutional provision of being a minister for six months.

Spokesperson Shrestha informed that the report prepared by the six-member task force for resolving disputes within the party was presented at the secretariat meeting.

According to the report, the two chairpersons have been given the responsibility to formulate an action plan to move the government and the party forward and present it at the meeting, said spokesperson Shrestha.

The meeting has expressed sorrow over the flood damage in Dhorpatan of Baglung district. Spokesperson Shrestha also urged the government to expedite the rescue, relief and rehabilitation work.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the party committee has been instructed to join in the rescue and relief work.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli also briefed about the state of corona infection and the efforts being made by the government to eradicate it.
