Dr. Ananta Adhikari, a psychiatrist, said along with corona, other physical and mental health problems should also be taken into consideration during epidemic.
Speaking at a regular press conference at Ministry of Health and Population on Monday, Dr. Ananta Adhikari said that false and misleading news and messages should not be heard to avoid mental and emotional problems caused by epidemic.
Dr. Adhikari also urged not to hide mental illness as mental illness and depression can be cured through psycho-counseling and medical treatment.
The official said people who do not have any physical problem but have been suffering from depression for more than two weeks without any reason, feeling unwell and feeling tired even after doing small work may have depression.
Dr. Adhikari mentioned that many people are deprived of treatment services in Nepal due to lack of access to services and tendency to hide diseases.
Dr. Adhikari also said epidemic should not be taken lightly to avoid panic and psychosocial effects of epidemic and that at other times epidemic in the world like corona will one day be terrified.
