Oath of National Assembly Member by Bamdev Gautam

Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Vice President Bamdev Gautam has been sworn in as a member of National Assembly.

National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timalsina on Thursday inaugurated Gautam as a member of National Assembly and secrecy at Parliament Secretariat.

On Thursday, President Vidhya Devi Bhandari nominated Gautam as a member of National Assembly on the recommendation of government. After swearing-in, Chairman Timilsina handed over a batch of MPs to Gautam.

After taking oath, Gautam said that he would play his role by being loyal to the nation and people. Gautam said that he would play a role in achieving party's goal of moving towards socialism.

Swearing-in ceremony was attended by CPN (Maoist) leaders and former prime ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Nepal and CPN (Maoist) parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nemwang.

Despite opposition to the decision to send Gautam, who lost House of Representatives election, to National Assembly, Council of Ministers on Wednesday recommended Gautam's name to the President.
