Indrajatra without Rath Yatra

Indrajatra, which is celebrated every year on the day of Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi, will be celebrated by offering forgiveness after postponing the pulling of chariots this year. Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi is the main day of Indrajatra today.

On this occasion, public holiday has been given in Kathmandu Valley since ancient times. It was a tradition to start Kumari Yatra in the Basantapur Durbar area from today. This year, the tradition has been halted due to the Corona pandemic.

The trees were not even cut down for the rainbow this year after a ban was issued on the night of August 19 due to the increasing infection of corona virus in the Kathmandu Valley. The lingo cutting site of Indrajatra was given at 9:25 pm on August 20.

Lingo has not been cut since the District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in the Kathmandu Valley issued a restraining order since last Wednesday night.

The ritual of Chayma Puja has started on August 30 in all concerned monasteries. Indrajatra was celebrated with importance by the Newar community of the capital. Rato Machhendranath's procession has not even taken place this year.
