Government Calls all Employees to Office - No more ‘Work from Home’

The government has called all employees to the office amid the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The government has decided to provide services from the office regularly by abolishing the rotation system adopted along with the epidemic of Covid-19.

The government has directed all the offices, govt bodies and organizations to run their offices regularly and provide services. The government has directed all employees to adhere to health and safety standards while operating the office.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a circular asking all ministries, commissions, secretariats and offices to operate.

The ministry also said that some employees did not come to the office by making excuses while adopting the rotation system.

Although the government had converted the first four months of the lockdown into a public holiday, during the last lockdown arrangements were made for half to come to office and half work from home. But that arrangement was not well implemented.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government had adopted the concept of 'work from home', but employees were found not working from home. "It's not easy to work from home," said the joint-secretary. "It's easier to work from the office than from home."

Spokesperson Adhikari said that the arrangement of working from home could not be completely removed at the behest of the head of the office.

"If there is a problem in maintaining health standards and social distance, the head of the office can also arrange for work from home," he said.

There are about 89,000 civil servants working in the country.
