Prices of vegetables have skyrocketed in the Kathmandu Valley after the government issued a restraining order saying the risk of corona has increased.
The price of vegetables has skyrocketed as the government has tightened restrictions on transportation without any plan to ease the supply system. Traders say that the price of fresh green vegetables has gone up in the wholesale market of Kalimati.
As the price of vegetables has started rising, small traders have also become attracted to trade in vegetables. Other small traders have started selling vegetables in small quantities.
Even though 5-6 lakh kg of vegetables are imported daily in the Kalimati market under normal circumstances, the data of Kalimati market has shown that the import has decreased due to the ban.
General public has complained that the prices of daily necessities have started increasing after the ban.
