Ronaldinho Released After Nearly Five Months Detention for Fake Passport

Former Brazil and Catalan club Barcelona legend Ronaldinho and his brother have been released from prison in Paraguay after nearly five months.

Paraguayan judge Gustavo Amarilla has released Ronaldinho and his brother, who entered Paraguay with fake passports and documents.

Ronaldinho and his brother Roberta de Assis Moreira were arrested by Paraguayan police in a hotel in Paraguay in the first week of March on charges of entering Paraguay with fake passports and documents.

Ronaldinho, winner of the Ballon d'Or, arrived in Paraguay for a program to support underprivileged children. However, two days later, Paraguayan police raided a hotel and arrested him after they discovered he had entered Paraguay using a fake passport.

The brothers were detained by Paraguayan police for one month and then for four months in a hotel in the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion.

According to Judge Gustavo, he faces no restrictions other than a 69,000 fine. However, Ronaldinho, a 40-year-old veteran midfielder, will be able to travel freely to any country he wants, if he changes his permanent address and notifies the authority.

Ronaldinho has accepted the terms of his release. Ronaldo will have to appear before a judge in Brazil every three months for one year and his brother for two years.

Ronaldinho, a key member of Brazil's World Cup winning team in 2002, is considered the best footballer.

He has played for Barcelona, ​​AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Europe for 10 years. He has won the Champions League from Barcelona and twice in La Liga and Serie A from Milan.
