The death toll from a landslide in Nagma Bazaar of Tilagufa Municipality-1 in Kalikot on Sunday morning has reached 10.
The deceased have been identified as Paresh Shahi, 40, his 7-year-old daughter Hima Shahi, 5-year-old son Nirajan Shahi and 2-month-old son Akkal Shahi of the same family.
Similarly, Manbir Katuwal, 35, Tek Bahadur Damai, 30, Choino Damai, 25, and Gajendra Damai, 6, of Tilagufa Municipality-1 are also missing. Similarly, Amrit Thapa, 23, of Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet and Aiti Khadka of Bheriganga Municipality-10 have been indentified, police said.
A police team has rescued the bodies buried in the landslide till 7 pm. Punna Shahi, 35, and Arjun Hamal, 11, of Tilagufa Municipality-3, who were seriously injured in the landslide, have been rescued and are undergoing treatment at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, Jumla.
According to Kalikot District Police Chief DSP Shyamwavu Olia, a police team has rescued nine people who went missing in the landslide. The body of a child was already recovered by the locals in the morning.
