One thousand 14 Nepalis stranded in different countries have returned home. They were stranded abroad due to the risk of Covid-19 and returned home on chartered flights operated by various airlines.
There were 11 international chartered flights at Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday.
Two dead bodies have also been brought to Nepal from these flights. Nepal Airlines has brought 265 passengers and two children to Nepal from Dubai.
The same airline has brought 149 passengers and a child from Kuwait and 258 passengers and two bodies from Riyadh. According to the airport office, Nepal Airlines planes flew to Kuala Lumpur and Doha to rescue more Nepalis.
Himalayan Airlines has brought 143 passengers and three children from Abu Dhabi and 153 passengers from Doha to Kathmandu.
Similarly, Etihad Airways has brought 136 passengers and one child from Abu Dhabi to Nepal. Air Arabia has brought 168 passengers and a child to Nepal from Sharjah, the airport said in a statement.
The airport is also scheduled to operate 13 chartered flights of various airlines on Sunday. There have been six chartered flights domestically.
Helicopters of Sita Air flew to Surkhet and Manang whereas Simrik, Air Dynasty and Kailash Air flew to various destinations, the airport said.
