More People Entered Nepal Than Those Who Left During Lockdown

The number of people leaving the country during the lockdown period is less than half the number of people entering the country. As many as 27,654 citizens of 22 countries, including Nepal, have returned home by air and 15,688 citizens of 93 countries have left Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport.

Ramesh Kumar KC, Director General of the Immigration Department, said that the number of Nepalis departing from Tribhuvan International Airport for labor destinations including Korea and Japan was 7,684. During this time, there were 27 thousand 583 Nepali citizens returning home.

According to the department, 1214 Americans and 897 Britons were among the highest number of foreigners leaving the country.

According to the Immigration Department, only 71 foreign nationals have entered Nepal from March 29 to July 15. Among the foreign citizens admitted in this way are employees of diplomatic missions and foreigners with Nepali origin.

KC, director general of the department, said that there were people coming to Nepal due to family problems. Among them, 14 UN staff members, 10 from the UK, 9 from the US and 71 from 21 other countries have entered Nepal, according to the department. During this time, 27 thousand 583 Nepali citizens living abroad have returned home.
