Nepal Students' Union has submitted a memorandum to Nepal Oil Corporation demanding reduction in the price of petroleum products.
A team led by Association President Rajiv Dhungana handed over the memorandum to Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation Surendra Kumar Poudel on Wednesday.
According to Nevisangh, it is inhumane for a lockdown to increase prices at a time when the income of the general consumer is declining.
The corporation, which has made a profit of Rs 3 billion in just three months of the lockdown, has expressed the view that it is wrong to increase the price of petrol by Rs 5 per liter due to a slight increase in prices in the international market.
The memorandum with 7-point suggestions submitted by the association includes issues such as full adherence to the automatic price and giving concessions to the people in the case of lockdown.
Understanding the memorandum, Executive Director of the Corporation Poudel clarified that the price hike was not done with the intention of making profit. Stating that the government will not engage in black market, Poudel claimed that it has given concessions during the lockdown period.
The oil corporation, which made a profit of Rs 3 billion in three months, said it was wrong to increase the price by Rs 5 in the global market.
