Five people were killed in floods and landslides in Kalikot and Kailali districts on Thursday. Parshuram Sanjyal, 62, and his daughter-in-law Tara Dhamala Sanjyal, 29, have died after being swept away by a river in Sanni Triveni Gaonpalika-6 of Kalikot.
According to the District Police Office, they were swept away by the river on Thursday morning. Two children have died when the house of Tul Bahadur Mahatra of Mahawai Gaonpalika-7 Kodbada in Kalikot collapsed.
The deceased have been identified as Sangita, 4, daughter of Tek Bahadur Bhandari and Ganesh, 12, son of Surya Mahatra.
Four children were injured when the house collapsed on Wednesday evening. They are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
Similarly, Ezekiel Chaudhary of Bhajani Municipality-8 Janakpur of Kailali has died due to floods.
According to the Bhajani Area Police Office, the body was found one kilometer below the Postal Highway on Thursday. The whereabouts of locals Ishwar Shah, 40, and Chakra Bahadur BK, 33, who went missing in the floods on Wednesday, are still unknown. Police said that they were searching for him.
