BFIs to Start Charging Fees for Inter-Bank ATM use

Commercial Banks, Development Banks and Associations of Financial Institutions will begin charging fees for using ATM machines other than their own starting today. Nepal Bankers’ Association made that decision on Wednesday.

The statement issued by the Associations reads “Almost all the banks and financial institutions have opened their branches and lockdown has been partially lifted making movement easy. That’s why Banks and Financial institutions can decide for themselves whether to charge or not charge for inter-bank transactions”

They had decided not to take that charge during the lockdown starting Chaitra 7. Generally they charge from Rs.20 to Rs. 250 for those transactions.
