Not a single rupee has been taken Sports Minister

Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bishwakarma has clarified that not a single rupee has been taken from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

Replying to a question raised by a lawmaker on the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the Appropriation Bill, 2077 BS in the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Bishwakarma challenged the lawmaker to confirm the allegations leveled against him.

Participating in the discussion on the budget allocated in the meeting, MP Pradip Yadav had accused ANFA of giving Rs 170 million out of love for the Sports Minister.

Minister Bishwakarma said that the allegations leveled against him were serious and demanded that the statement be removed from the record of the parliament. Claiming that he has handled the responsibility of the ministry with integrity and duty, he said that he is loved not only by ANFA but also by the entire sports sector.

He said that as 0.16 percent of the total budget has been allocated for the sports sector this year, it will be spent only on old and essential works rather than new ones.

Minister Bishwakarma also said that the government is responsible for the safety of the players along with the construction of infrastructure.

Stating that the Narayani Stadium in Birgunj will be constructed by the government, he informed that the stadiums in Nepalgunj and Itahari have to be converted into state level stadiums. He also said that youth targeted programs will be continued.
