Discussion on bringing back the encroached land

Members of the Standing Committee of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) have praised the government's initiative to bring back the encroached land of Nepal and the leaders have emphasized on diplomatic dialogue.

At a meeting of the Standing Committee held at the PM's residence in Baluwatar on Friday, the members stressed the need to bring back the encroached land through effective diplomatic talks with neighboring India.

The members also said that the border problems in various places including Lipulek, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura should be resolved. According to Yogesh Bhattarai, a member of the Standing Committee, the government has succeeded in including the encroached lands on the map of Nepal by reaching a national consensus.

Bhattarai said the government should hold effective talks with India to control flooding and criminal activities in the border areas. During the meeting, Pradip Gyawali, a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, had repeatedly called on India to hold border talks.

He said the government was confident that India would be ready for talks and that the problem would be resolved through diplomatic dialogue. Bhattarai, who is also a member of the Standing Committee, said that talks were being initiated with India to resolve the border issue.

Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli was absent in Friday's meeting. Bhattarai said that he was absent due to busy schedule and arrangements have been made to inform the Prime Minister about the discussions in the meeting.

At Friday's meeting, 18 standing committee members expressed their views. The standing committee meeting will now be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
