A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-M) has suggested India to take concrete diplomatic initiatives to bring back the occupied territory.
Speaking at a meeting of the CPN (Maoist) Standing Committee held on Wednesday, most of the members made public the new map and suggested holding concrete talks with India to resolve the border issue.
Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed that 38 members had spoken till the end of the third day's meeting and so far only border disputes and new maps have been discussed.
He said that the members who spoke at the meeting suggested that concrete steps should be taken to bring back the territory lost to India as soon as the new map is made public.
Raghuji Pant, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) said that anti-India sentiment has increased in Nepal due to India's hepatic tendency.
He warned that any attempt to gain and maintain its sole interest by putting pressure on Nepal would be against India's own interests. Pant stressed that the solution to the existing problems between Nepal and India should be found through dialogue. On the first day of the standing committee meeting, chairpersons KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed their views.
On the second day, 18 members of the Standing Committee had expressed their views, and on the third day, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had a brief meeting. The next meeting of the CPN (Maoist) has been postponed till 11 am on July 3, said Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
