EPL to be broadcast on free-to-air TV
The English Premier League could show more matches on free-to-air Tv platforms once it resumes, including during the normally protected slots on a Saturday, minister Oliver Dowen of the UK said.
Dowen, the head of the department for digital, culture, media and sport, said making the games available on free platforms could help to prevent fans from turning up outside the stadium for games that are being shown behind closed doors.
The games are being played with gates locked as the country faces the COVID- 19 pandemic, meaning no spectators are allowed to watch it live in the stadium and the players also play with extra precaution.
This has meant that some hard core fans could show up for the match. This decision was to discourage them showing up.
