Buddha Jayanti Observed without public events
Baishakh Purnima or 2564th Buddha Jayayanti. The day of the birth of Lord Buddha is celebrated by the followers of Buddhism as Buddha Jayanti. Siddhartha Gautam was born in Lumbini in 563 BC on today.
This day is celebrated in the Mayadevi temple in his birthplace Lumbini and also in Bouddha Vihars and Gumbas across the nation by followers visiting those places and participating in rituals and prayers.
However, this year, due to the lockdown enforced by the government amid the Corona crisis, no public events have been organised.
Shwoyambhunath situated in Kathmandu also appeared quiet with no events or celebrations.
