Direction of Industry Committee to the Government
The House of Representatives, Industry and Commerce and the Committee on Labor and Consumer Affairs have directed the government to make immediate arrangements for the remaining payment of sugarcane farmers.
The meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday suggested the government to provide sugar to the consumers at affordable prices and to take initiative to solve the problems of the sugar industry on the basis of discussion.
The meeting suggested to stop the import of crab leaves to promote the indigenous industry as the country has become self-sufficient in crab leaves, said Chairman Bimal Srivastava.
The government had made a policy of importing zinc sheets from outside and exempting them from customs duty to meet the immediate demand after the earthquake in Barpak, Gorkha, damaged many houses.
The committee has given the instruction to the government stating that the post-earthquake reconstruction has reached the final stage and the zinc sheets that can meet the demand of the country will be produced in the country.
Earlier, the committee had discussed with the indigenous industrialists and sought their views and suggestions.
The meeting has instructed the Ministry of Finance to reach a decision after discussing with the stakeholders to remove the double tax levied on domestically produced television parts.
The committee has directed the government to take immediate initiative to bring the television production industry, which was closed due to various reasons, into operation.
