Kathmandu Metropolitan City is going to vacate Khulamanch by shifting temporary bus park to another place. Bus park has been operating from Khulamanch for the past five years.
Khulamanch was shrunk when construction materials were placed during the operation of bus park and reconstruction of historical heritage after Gorkha earthquake.
Metropolis says that the construction of some properties has been completed and some are in the final stage.
Metropolis has removed some structures and barbs in the first phase a month ago. Work is now underway to relocate the bus park and remove the remaining construction materials.
According to Ishwar Man Dangol, spokesperson of metropolis, a letter has been sent to National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Durbar High School and National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) urging them to create a vacancy.
Dangol said that the construction of Durbar High School has been completed and the reconstruction of Bir Hospital has reached its final stage.
Other structures will be removed immediately and location of bus park will be identified. Kathmandu View Tower is currently under construction at the site of bus park five years ago.
Construction of tower has not been able to pick up speed, which has caused problems in operating bus park permanently.
Though it was said that construction of tower would be completed in five years, no progress has been made in this regard.
