Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has requested for suggestions on the issues to be included in the forthcoming policy/program and budget of government from the journalism sector.
In an interaction with journalists on Thursday, Minister Gurung said that government was committed to solve problems seen in the media sector and demanded suggestions.
Minister Gurung opined that many reforms need to be made along with the policy reforms in the media sector and for that, suggestions of media experts are needed.
Government spokesperson Gurung expressed his commitment to address the issue of journalists in remote districts as soon as possible due to the problems seen in telecommunications.
Minister Gurung announced government's plan to provide internet to every ward office, school and household. Stating that chaos and distortion is growing in journalism, Minister Gurung said that it is time to measure its quality.
On the occasion, President of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Govinda Acharya, said that federation has always been fighting for the rights of journalists and would continue to do so in the days to come.
