Journalists Pralhad Rijal and Ajay Babu Shivakoti have been awarded Basu Rotary International Award for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of good governance through journalism.
On Friday, Rotary International District 3292 presented award of Rs. 10 lakhs while Prahlad Rijal, Editor of Aarthi Daily and Ajay Babu Shivakoti, Editor of Hamrakura.com Online through online media have been awarded for the year 2019-20.
Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta presented award to journalists Rijal and Shivakoti.
At the same ceremony, Chairman Mehta presented 'Rotary Journo Award' worth Rs 25,000 to 13 people along with letters of appreciation.
Editor of Drishti Weekly Shambhu Shrestha for promotion of Rotary activities, Development of Economic Journalism for Pushparaj Acharya, Environmental Journalism for Annapurna Post Daily, Dipendra Prasad Singh of NewsCarobar.com for education, Samjhana Maharjan of Radio Sagarmatha for disseminating news related to health and Vinita Rijal of Nepal Television for Women Media.
Similarly, Binu Timsina of Nepal Television from Province No. 1, Shyam Banjara of Awaaj MM from Province No. 2, Kamala Hamal of Janata Television from Bagmati Province, Dipendra Shrestha of Annapurna FM from Gandaki Pradesh were also given the award.
Chairman Mehta also presented the award to Bhim Bahadur Singh, a local correspondent of the daily and Unnati Chaudhary of Kailali from Far Western Province.
