Today, Prithvi Jayanti is being celebrated in remembrance of the contribution of Prithvinarayan Shah, of Nepal's unification.
As the eldest son of Gorkhali king Narbhupal Shah and queen Kaushalyavati. Shah, who was born on December 10, 1779, had built modern Nepal by uniting twenty-two (twenty-four) scattered states.
As Nepal has been geographically unified, Shah has been given the title of Nation Builder.
However, his criticism has been similar. Critics have argued that he is not a nation-builder, saying he has established the dominance of a single race, a single culture, a single religion and a community.
Remembering his contribution, various programs are being organized in different parts of the country including the capital today.
