The height of the highest peak, Mount Everest, has increased by 86 m. Everest, which was 8,848 meters high, has now reached 8,848.86 meters. Foreign Minister Pradip Gyawali and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi unveiled a new program measured by Nepal and China.
After Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal in 2019, the two countries agreed to jointly measure the height of Mount Everest, according to a previous survey by the Survey of India in 1954.
Now the new height of Everest has been revealed. The height was announced today after the cabinet meeting held on November 25 approved the Ministry of Land Management and Cooperatives to make the new height of Everest public.
