Pashupatinath temple, which has been closed since last April, will be reopened for devotees from coming January 16 (i.e. 1 Poush). Pashupati Area Development Fund has stated that it has been decided to open temple from January 16 (i.e. 1 Poush) by adopting method of health security by maintaining physical distance.
Member Secretary of Fund, Pradip Dhakal, informed that fund has also prepared criteria for devotees who want to enter temple from January 16. According to Dhakal, arrangements will be made for devotees to enter through one door and exit through the other.
Stating that Pashupatinath temple was not open even when other areas including public transport were open, organizations including World Hindu Federation had been conducting various protest programs in Pashupatinath area.
Pashupatinath temple was closed to devotees on April 25 after government decided to close it down after the spread of corona virus. Devotees used to complain that they were not allowed to visit the Pashupatinath temple even on Monday of Shrawan this year. Devotees had expressed their faith by circling Pashupatinath area on Monday of Shrawan from outside.
Even though daily worship of Pashupatinath was going on after Chait, devotees were not allowed to perform special worship and darshan.
