Influential leader of Nepali Congress and former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said that Nepal should have good relations with both India and China.
In an interview organized by Reporters Club Nepal in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Mahat said that Nepal should strengthen relations with India and China keeping in mind its own interests.
Leader Mahat said that Nepal's relations with India were very old and close. Mahat said that Nepal should maintain good relations while maintaining its geographical integrity and sovereignty.
Stating that there are many disputes with India, Mahat said that these are not new issues. Similarly, Nepal also has border dispute with China, said Mahat. Mahat also argued that Nepal could play a role in improving India-China relations.
Mahat said that Nepal could play an effective role in economic relations between India and China and Nepal could be promoted as a bridge for enhancing trade relations.
