Former King Gyanendra came to Pokhara two years ago to celebrate English New Year. Gyanendra, who came on New Year's Eve, then went to different parts of the country.

A corner meeting was held at Manavadhikar Chowk after a bike and car rally from Pokhara's Amar Singh Chowk, Prithvi Chowk, Halla Chowk and Bajagaja. Musical performance was played, royal national anthem, Mr. Gambhir Prachanda Pratapi ... Hundreds of citizens joined in and sang in unison.
Organizers of program have identified themselves as people of western region. This means that they are accepting monarchical administrative structure and are against republican structure.
Their slogans were, 'Let's get a king, let's save country', 'Our king is dearer to our country than life', 'Unbroken Nepal is alive', 'Republic is dead'.
Bikes and cars participating in rally had pictures of last king Gyanendra and Komal Shah from Prithvinarayan Shah.
Addressing the corner meeting, Shiv Sena central chairman Anil Basnet said that monarchy would be revived in Nepal anyway. Shiv Sena central chairman Basnet expressed confidence that monarchy would be restored as people of the country spontaneously supported his campaign.
Expressing happiness over people's participation after 14 years, Basnet said that people wanted monarchy.
