Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has said that discussions are underway to form an airport security police for the security of airports across the country.
Inaugurating security guard building at Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday, Minister Bhattarai said that discussions were underway among concerned agencies to form an airport security police unit to make security of the airport special and effective.
Stating that some people are likely to be involved in intentional wrongdoing and that people close to some international criminal organizations are likely to be evacuated through the airport, Minister Bhattarai said airport security personnel needed more training.
Minister Bhattarai said that Gautam Buddha and Pokhara and Nijgadh International Airport would be operational in the near future.
On the occasion, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority Rajan Pokharel informed that the development and upgrading work of Tribhuvan Airport is progressing rapidly.
Security guard building has been constructed at Tribhuvan Airport to rest security personnel and it is believed that morale of security personnel at the airport will be high, said airport’s authority.
As soon as the building with a capacity of 350 security personnel comes into operation, security personnel working in security of the airport will get standard accommodation facility inside the airport.
