Director General of Immigration Department Ramesh Kumar KC said it was difficult to regulate arrivals and departures due to the open border to the south.
During a meeting of Legislative Management Committee under National Assembly at Singha Durbar on Monday, KC said it was difficult to control and regulate arrivals and departures as there were eight open immigration offices in the south and other open borders.
KC said that increase in criminal incidents was due to inability to control southern border. KC also said that improper activities including preaching religion on tourist and study visas have been taking place.
KC noted that although advance passenger system has been implemented in other countries,same system has not been implemented in Nepal yet.
During the meeting, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said that government would solve problems related to immigration. Home Minister Thapa also stressed on the need to move bill forward in a timely manner.
In the meeting, committee members said that problems seen due to open borders and management of Nepalese stranded abroad should be included in bill.
