Due to the risk of coronavirus infection, the number of people going for tika this year is lower than last year.
This year has seen less activity than last year due to corona virus infection. Activity of people walking to get Tika Jamra as offerings of Nava Durga from the hands of seniors has not been seen like last year.
Starting from the day of Vijayadashami, process of offering Tika and Jamra as offerings of Nava Durga continues on the day of Kojagrat Purnima till all receiving tika are completed.
Close family members also stay away from work, so people walk to get tika until the full moon day of Kojagrat.
In the past, there used to be a lot of crowds in the market and on the streets as there is a tradition of going to the relatives for tika after tika in the family. But this year's Dashain has been celebrated only with close family members.
Similarly, road looks deserted. Due to Corona, few people go out of the capital to celebrate Dasahin this year. Number of vehicles on the road is not as high as last year.
As number of infected people in the Kathmandu Valley is increasing day by day, many have resorted to health protection and tika at home. Those who walk to get tika also seem to follow the method of health protection.
