Five babies surgically born at the same time

A 28-year-old woman has given birth to five babies at the Thapathali-based Philanthropic Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Somika Tamang of Nuwakot has given birth to five babies at a time.

The director of the hospital, Dr. Sangita Mishra said four of the five were alive. Dr. Mishra informed that one child died inside the womb within 28 weeks. During the video X-ray, we found out that a child had died.

Mishra said, "But the baby was surgically removed due to water in the abdomen." Dr. Mishra informed that the mother has already given birth to three children.

The babies weigh from 600 grams per kg to 900 grams per kg. The baby weighing 800 grams has been kept in the ICU.

A team of doctors led by Dr. Kirtipal Subedi performed the operation on Monday morning and the babies were born. Dr. Sudedi said the babies were survived by four daughters.

Surviving babies are now being kept in ICU observation. All of them are in normal health. Dr. Sudedi said that he had to undergo surgery at 32 weeks due to frozen water in her stomach.

Under the leadership of Dr. Subedi, Dr. Dipti Shrestha, Dr. Namita Singden and in Anesthesia Dr. Mukesh Kumar was in surgery. Similarly, the nursing team was led by Rabina Prajapati.
