National Cooperative Development Board has submitted the draft of the next 25-year strategic plan of Nepal's cooperative sector to Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation said Minister Padmakumari Aryal.
The board held a formal function at the ministry on Wednesday and handed over the draft of 25-year strategic plan to Minister Aryal.
Understanding the draft of the strategic plan, Minister Aryal said that a strategic document has been prepared for the expansion, development and strengthening of the cooperative movement.
Minister Aryal said that the strategy has been prepared with a clear vision for the overall development of the cooperative sector keeping in mind the international practice and the national situation.
Stating that constitution has taken the cooperative sector as an important sector in the three pillar economy, Minister Aryal mentioned that a 25-year strategy has been prepared in connection with the implementation of the constitution.
Stating that the issue of good governance has also been raised in the increasing number of cooperatives, Minister Aryal said that special emphasis has been laid on good governance.
Minister Aryal also said that special emphasis has been laid on the implementation of the laws related to cooperatives.
Minister Aryal also said that a 25-year strategy of the cooperative sector prepared by the Cooperative Development Board would be implemented by the ministry soon.
Daksha Poudel, co-chairman of National Cooperative Development Board, said that a 25-year strategy has been prepared with a plan to move the cooperatives forward in a systematic manner.
Stating that the cooperative sector will be made technology friendly in a timely manner, Co-Chairman Poudel said that a strategy has been prepared for the development of the overall cooperative sector.
Similarly, Secretary at Ministry Teknarayan Pandey said that cooperatives would be organized on the foundation of socialism.
