Sub-committee formed to study scientific forest management of Public Accounts Committee has recommended to repeal 'Scientific Forest Management Procedure, 2071'.
On Thursday, sub-committee submitted a study report to the committee and recommended to direct government to formulate national standards considering socio-economic and environmental aspects of the forest area as per the objectives of National Forest Policy 2075 and Forest Act 2076 by repealing Scientific Forest Management Procedure 2071.
Stating that various people have been living an abnormally high standard of living due to irregularities in the operation of scientific forest management program, sub-committee also suggested to direct Government of Nepal to take necessary legal action against them as per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2064 BS.
Sub- committee also suggested that action should be taken against all those who destroy forests in the name of scientific forest management, saying that in some districts of the country, scientific forest management action plan has been implemented.
Similarly, it has been suggested to blacklist the consultants who are assisting in deforestation by formulating wrong action plan, said Yadav.
During the meeting, sub-committee member Prem Ale said that government should give necessary instructions after discussing the suggestions given by the sub-committee.
Ale said that government should immediately draw attention of the people to stop the deforestation in different parts of the country.
