Rato Machhindranath's chariot pulled with tight security

A chariot of Rato Machhindranath has been pulled in Lalitpur's Pulchowk on Sunday amid tight security.

Both Rato Machhindranath and Minnath chariots in Lalitpur's Pulchowk have been given six-legged chariot. At the same time, the longest rath yatra of the country has been completed this year.

Due to the corona infection, the rath yatra which was supposed to be held in Baishakh was stopped. There was a scuffle between the locals and the police on Thursday when Rato Machhindranath's chariot in Pulchowk was pulled about 5 meters away.

Since then, the chariot has been in the middle of the road. After that, a joint meeting of stakeholders and Guthi Khal’s decided to give only formality to Rato Machhindranath's rath yatra.

To complete the formalities, 160 people from four tols of Patan pulled the chariot. Forty people from village Ga:Bahal, 40 people from Vachhutwa Nuga, 40 people from Laganya and 40 people from Jawalakhya have pulled the chariot.

No one was allowed to enter the procession except those who had been confirmed. Rato Machhindranath is being prepared to be taken back to Bungmati by August 11.
