Women and Social Affairs Committee under the House of Representatives has directed Social Welfare Council to approve and manage the project by maintaining regional balance on the basis of national priority.
The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday said that most of the projects approved by the council were not selected on the basis of national priority and directed the council to approve and manage the projects by maintaining regional balance on the basis of national priority.
Meeting has stressed on the need to implement a clear action plan with a time limit for the approved project.
Similarly, meeting also directed to provide the details of the budget approved by various NGOs for the operation of the project, said Niru Devi Pal, chairperson of the committee.
The meeting also directed to carry out the work with a clear view on the condition of the council, vision and tendency of reviewing the needs of the country as the meeting did not reject the non-renewed organizations, said Committee Chairman Pal.
During the meeting, Dr. Padma Prasad Khatiwada, vice-chairman of council, said that permission would be given only after studying the projects submitted by the NGO. Lawmakers said there was a need to bring NGOs under regulation.
