Women and Social Committee under the House of Representatives has directed government to work more actively in child-friendly rescue, relief and rehabilitation.
The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday said that the impact of natural calamities on children has not been studied and directed government to work more actively in child-friendly rescue, relief and rehabilitation. The meeting also directed Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Ministry of Home Affairs and National Planning Commission to formulate a disaster resilience policy as soon as possible and seriously involve children in formulating the policy, said Nirudevi Pal.
The meeting also directed to work towards maintaining uniformity in such provisions as there are differences between Children's Act and some other legal provisions related to labor and to make rules and regulations for the implementation of the Act and implement them as soon as possible.
The meeting also directed to make the coordination work with the local level more effective to motivate the formation of child rights protection committee at the local level and to solve the problems of women, children, senior citizens, gender minorities and marginalized.
At the meeting, Buddha Bahadur Gurung, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, informed that the registration has been revoked. Gurung said that the government has been organizing various public awareness programs to establish the rights of children.
In the meeting, committee members were in the view that the laws and regulations should be changed in a timely manner to establish child rights.
