9 Arrested for Attacking Traffic Police on Thursday’s Lalitpur Clashes

Police have started an investigation against the person who attacked the traffic police in Lalitpur. Police have launched an investigation against them under the Infectious Diseases Act 2020.

Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tek Prasad Rai of the Lalitpur Metropolitan Police said that they would be prosecuted under the Act as well as, Local Administration Act 2028 and assault other offenses against public peace.

Police have arrested Mahesh Bajracharya of Lalitpur-16, Prithbindu Maharjan of 11, Ashoj Kumar Maharjan of 21, Ravi Shakya of 6 and Rabin Shakya of 16 for attacking the traffic police.

Similarly, Suvin Shakya of Imadol, Dhruvaraj Bajracharya of Lalitpur Mahalakshmi Municipality-1, Shyam Shrestha of Bhaktapur Thimi-8 and Yadav Lal Kayastha of Kathmandu-16 have been arrested.

Police are also investigating the incident where a person wearing a journalist jacket was pelting stones at police.

Traffic police constable Kamal Prasad Ghimire, who was injured in the clash on Thursday, is undergoing treatment at Alka Hospital, Lalitpur. His health condition is normal.
